Pinetrees is run by the sixth generation of the original family – Dani Rourke (the daughter of Pixie and Ed Rourke) and her husband, Luke Hanson. That’s us. Dani was an industrial relations lawyer in Sydney and Luke was an ecologist with the United Nations before we moved to Lord Howe in 2010. It was a big change.
Our daughters, Elsie and Pixie, are the seventh generation of the Pinetrees family. They’ve grown up on Lord Howe and recently started working at Pinetrees after school. It’s probably illegal, but they love serving afternoon tea and setting the tables for dinner.
Our broader Pinetrees family is a critical part of the show. Denis, Lara, Al, Carol, Tennille, Emma, Lindy, Dennis, Cameron and Deb are our loyal senior staff, and are very much part of the family. They take great care of our business, our guests, our kids, and us. They’ll treat you like family as well.
