The 3rd Australian Geographic Expedition to Lord Howe Island in October 2018 was a great success. Following from the work in the first two expeditions, we continued the collection of insects in the hope that we’d find something new to science. We’d already found new species of soldier fly and spider wasp, and it looks like we’ve now found a new species of native bee. Our lead scientists from the CSIRO were fantastic to work with, as were the 15 or so citizen scientists who joined the expedition for a different kind of holiday. Lauren Smith, the Commercial Editor for Australian Geographic, hosted the Expedition and wrote the feature article in the April issue of Australian Geographic Magazine. Stay tuned for details on the next Australian Geographic Expedition to Lord Howe Island in 2020.
